At present, our main focus is on de-coating of steel and aluminium beverage cans. Beverage cans generally have an internal and an external coating. With our eutectic solvent system, both the inner and outer coatings can be removed exposing only bare aluminium and steel.
The de-coating process is performed at temperatures below 100 °C, which reduces the energy consumption of this process considerably compared to the current de-coating process (burning off the coating).

Reuse of Metal
The aluminium or steel obtained after de-coating is not oxidised, causing the metal loss due to oxidation minimal. Also no inorganic pigments or carbonaceous deposits remain, further minimising the loss of metal.
Reuse of solvent
The additives, pigments and resins can be easily removed from the eutectic solvent system. The eutectic solvent can be re-used in the de-coating process making this process circular not only from the perspective of the metal but also of the solvent.
